Ringuetta celebration 12th of May

This festival of games of the area and the part those games both for fun and for war have played in Dordogne history happens only every other year. Held in Sarlat it has no fixed date it is a celebration on whit Sunday in the even years. The next celebration as I write this will be May 12, 2008.

The festival celebrates games of bygone eras, and when I say celebrate I mean to the fullest extent. They wear the full costume of whatever sport and era they are participating in and the food that is served at the local tourism office is traditional food of the area.

On the same day you will find the Whit Days Flavours also in Sarlat.

Half Marathon 25th of May

While it certainly is not one of Frances more famous races, Automobile race Le Mans, or the famous cycling race tour de France, this annual race is well regarded in Dordogne.

Cutting a track through the lush countryside of Dordogne from the village St. Méard to Montazeau village. The race has become a festival for those watching the event of every year.

The race takes place on the 25th of May every year.

Strawberry Festival 13th of May

The "fête of the strawberry" celebrated annually in Beaulieu Sur Dordogne is a festival celebrating the regions contributions to the strawberry, one of the most popular foods in France.

Beaulieu Sur Dordogne produces forty percent of the strawberries consumed in the country of France. At five and a half pounds average consumed annually by each person in France the strawberry is significant to the country as well as this region.

At the festival there will be over 5 tons of strawberries on display some used in displays, some eaten, and even more used in games and competitions.

In previous years there was a tart made that was at least 3 feet deep and 10 feet across, expect to be amazed at the numerous ways strawberries can be put to use when you attend this event.
