Travelling to Dordogne
By Air.

Dordogne region is served by three major airports. The Bergerac airport is located to many of the destination cities in the region, and the airports at Bordeaux and Toulouse are also convenient to the Dordogne. All three of these are major airports which are serviced by most airline carriers; British Airways, Aer Lingus, Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, Finnair, Iberia, KLM, Lufthansa & Amadeu.

If none of these flies from an airport nearby you can also make a connection in Paris (Charles de Gaulle airport) or London (Heathrow airport). Your best bet is to contact a local agency that can help you make the connections necessary from your point of embarkation. Remember to book in advance especially in the summer months that is the peak season for tourism in the area.
By Sea.

If you plan to start your visit from the UK whether you fly into Heathrow or that is your point of origin you will need to arrange for ferry travel across the channel. With the numerous points of origin as well as the various desired destinations I won't begin to hazard a list of routes and prices here. With the ever-fluctuating prices the list wouldn't be worth much anyway. What I can recommend is a few sites and ferry lines.

Find the best offers for ferry services from the UK to various points on the continent including those that you will need depending on your destination in Dordogne. Find the best rates covering some of the following crossings. The Brittany Ferries offers five routes from the UK to Brittany, Normandy, and Spain. The Condor, provides a crossing from Poole to St Malo. The P&O Shipping line covers Portsmouth-Le Havre and Dover-Calais routes. The Rosslare - Cherbourg - Roscoff route is available through Irish Ferries.
By Land.

Those who are from the UK can travel by car though they should see the advice given on our seas travel section for tips on ferry crossings. If you arrived in the UK via Airline you can also rent a car that way your transportation is in your control for the duration of your travels in Dordogne. London's Victoria Station offers the convenience of train travel.

Travelling by train is a luxurious way to arrive in Dordogne while restfully enjoying all the sites alongside the route of the train tracks. If you have the luxury of time you could also choose coach travel from London. Eurolines has regular trips from London's Victoria Coach station that are heading to cities throughout France. With popular sights to see along the way, this method is only suitable if you can afford the whole day as it runs over night via Dover.
